Coaching at ROAR can be very fulfilling and rewarding when you integrate Sports, Life, and Biblical Truth. We are not asking you to be an experienced coach of many years, just have a willingness to step up and serve the Lord by how you coach. We will provide you with anything you need to be successful, all we ask is that you ask for help. We send weekly emails to coaches with tips and ideas for your practices as well as the weekly devotions. We are here to help you!

Some requirements we are looking for are as follows:

  • Commitment to attend practice once a week (1 hour) and 8 games per season (1 hour)
  • Outgoing personality and love for children
  • Growing relationship with the Lord and comfortable to do 3-D devotions (we teach you and give you the material)
  • A minimal knowledge of the sport you would like to coach (emphasis on minimal)
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Able to handle conflict, if arises
  • Able to put together practice schedule (Skills development, Drills, and more)
  • Complete a ROAR Coach Application, this will be completed on registration day on your ROAR account – (see bullet point on ROAR account below)
  • Attend our Coaches Development Training at the beginning of the season
  • A background check link will be sent to your email after you have registered to coach.

ROAR's Coach Development is held at the beginning of each Fall, Winter, and Spring Season.

ALL Coaches for Winter 2025 Must attend the following session:

Coaches Development -winter 2025/2026
Saturday, November 8th- 9am-12pm

Coaches Development is for ALL coaches. During this time, coaches will be able to learn more about who ROAR is, what a Gospel Centered coach is, and why we do what we do.

Location: Westminster Presbyterian Church (1320 India Hook Road). Follow up email will be sent to coaches about a week before training.

Why do we do Coaches Development?

There are four primary reasons for coaches development:

  1. We want to meet you! At the end of the day, we can’t be successful without each of you. We want to know you.
  2. We want you to get to know us. ROAR exists to begin the process of redeeming sports. You may be wondering what that means and that is exactly why you should come to coaches training!
  3. We want to build a community of coaches. We live in a society that isolates and makes us so busy that we don’t have time for others. We want coaches to get to know one another and that starts with our training session.
  4. To remind each other of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

1 Corinthians 15:1-2 “Now I remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you – unless you believed in vain.”

Here, Paul is reminding believers of the Gospel. It is important for us as believers to constantly be reminded of the Gospel and let that drive everything that we do, even things such as coaching or playing sports.

We look forward to getting to know you and telling you more about us!
